Background/History:
Washington County developed the E911 System in 1994, centralized
on March 1, 1995, and updated the entire 911 system in 1999 to better
meet the emergency needs of its citizens. The Center provides
state-of-the-art technology and communications capabilities. Our Center
has Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and is enhanced 911 equipped whereas
the caller’s phone number and address is displayed automatically through
the Automatic Numbering Indicator and Automatic Location Indicator. We
have the Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping program
implemented. This allows the telecommunicator to inform the emergency
responders of the caller's location and any cross streets. The mapping
program is maintained and updated regularly. Our Center is equipped with
TTY equipment which enables communications with the deaf and hard of
hearing. We also have the Language Line implemented which enables
communications with a non English speaking person
